The communication coming from management is nonexistent. They gradually scheduled me for fewer and fewer hours until they decided not to schedule me at all for weeks in a row, despite me speaking to multiple managers about this issue. Other employees have had the same complaints about management just refusing to speak to any of their staff, not only at my Cracker Barrel. Do not work here if you want your superiors to actually care about you at all.
Also, equipment for cleaning was shoddy and broke every few days. Mop sticks, mop buckets, hoses, pressure washers, brooms, dustpans — all broken within a week, forcing the store to replace all of them. Regularly ran out of rags and mop heads and had to come up with creative ways to clean everything. Management practically encouraged us to cut corners, causing us to fail inspections. Chemicals were changed half of the time without any notification or instruction on what they wanted us to do with the new chemicals, and we’d run out of everything constantly, which meant that we just couldn’t do our jobs. Management did not care about any of this, either.
Not even to mention, I was getting paid less than the rest of the Night Maintenance crew, even though I was meant to be raised to their pay within 6 months. I asked about this, and management just said they’d look into it, and never got back to me. The amount I was being paid was extremely low for the exorbitant amount of work I had to do, especially when they started scheduling me to come in 30 minutes to an hour after my shift was supposed to start, for the sake of “savingmore.. money.”
